Calling the Chosen Ones
By Dr. Phil Spears
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people…” – 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
There’s a stirring in the spirit of God's people today. It isn’t a shout or a trumpet blast from the mountains—it’s something deeper, more personal. It’s a quiet yet powerful whisper from heaven: “I’m calling My chosen ones.” In this generation, in this hour, God is calling those He has set apart—not just to believe, but to move, to act, to shine.
I’ve met many believers over the years. Some know they’re called but aren’t sure how to walk in it. Others feel too broken, too scarred, too insignificant to believe they could be one of God’s “chosen.” And yet, Scripture is crystal clear—you are chosen. The question isn’t if you are chosen. The question is: Will you answer the call?
1. What Does It Mean to Be Chosen?
Being chosen by God isn’t about being the best, the brightest, or the boldest. In fact, if you look at the biblical pattern, God seems to specialize in picking the least likely. Moses had a stutter. David was the forgotten son. Mary was a humble teenager. Peter denied Jesus three times. And yet—God chose them.
To be chosen is to be called out of the ordinary for an extraordinary purpose. It means you’ve been handpicked by heaven to carry out a mission only you can fulfill. Not by your strength, but by His Spirit.
And don’t let the enemy tell you otherwise. The chosen aren't perfect—they're faithful. They fall, but they get back up. They doubt, but they press on. They carry wounds, but those scars become testimonies.
2. God Is Calling You Out of Hiding
Some of you reading this have been living in spiritual hiding. You love God, but you’ve pulled back. Maybe it’s fear. Maybe it’s disappointment. Maybe you just feel stuck. Let me tell you something as plainly as I can:
It’s time to come out of hiding.
There is an anointing on your life that can’t stay buried. The enemy wants to keep you quiet, discouraged, and distracted. But God says, “Arise and shine, for your light has come!” (Isaiah 60:1). You were not created to blend in with the crowd—you were made to stand out for Christ.
You’ve been in the cave long enough. Like Elijah, it's time to hear the still, small voice and step back into the mission. You’re not forgotten. You’re not too far gone. You’re not disqualified. You’re chosen.
3. The Chosen Are Not Comfortable—They’re Commissioned
Being chosen doesn’t come with comfort—it comes with a commission. Jesus didn’t call His disciples to sit in comfort; He called them to go into all the world, to cast out demons, heal the sick, preach the Gospel, and lay down their lives.
We’ve been lulled into a version of Christianity that values convenience over commitment. But God is waking up a remnant—a chosen people who are ready to burn for Him, no matter the cost.
Are you willing to say yes—even when it’s hard? Even when you’re misunderstood? Even when it requires sacrifice?
Let me remind you: there is no safer place than the center of God’s will. Yes, the storms may come. Yes, the road may be narrow. But the peace that surpasses understanding walks with those who walk with Him.
4. You Were Chosen for Such a Time as This
I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that you’re alive in this particular moment in history. Out of all the generations that have come before, God chose you to be alive now.
Why?
Because He has placed something inside of you that this world needs now. A word. A gift. A fire. A calling. It’s time to stop disqualifying yourself. It’s time to shake off the labels others have put on you—and the ones you’ve put on yourself.
Like Esther, you were chosen for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). You weren’t born into the wrong generation. You weren’t a mistake. You are exactly where God wants you to be, and He is preparing you for something greater.
5. The Cost and the Crown
Let me be real with you. Walking as one of the chosen isn’t easy. It requires faith when things don’t make sense. It requires obedience when the path isn’t clear. It means saying “yes” when everyone else says “no.”
But it also means intimacy with the Father. It means walking in power. It means living with purpose. It means wearing a heavenly crown that no man can take away.
I believe many of you reading this are feeling the call of God even now. Your heart is stirred. Your spirit is awake. That’s not emotion—that’s the Holy Spirit confirming your identity.
A Final Word from My Heart
To the weary warrior: Don’t give up. You’re closer than you think.
To the hidden intercessor: Your prayers are moving mountains.
To the doubting disciple: God hasn’t changed His mind about you.
To the brokenhearted believer: Your pain has a purpose, and your healing is part of your calling.
You are not just one of the many—you are one of the chosen. And heaven is watching to see what you’ll do with this call.
So, rise up. Take your place. The time is now. The kingdom is advancing—and God is calling His chosen ones.
In Christ,
