🔥 WADE IN THE WATER: EZEKIEL’S RIVER AND THE CALL TO GO DEEPER

A Prophetic Word by Dr. Phil Spears

“And he said to me, ‘Son of man, have you seen this?’”
Ezekiel 47:6

There’s a river flowing out from the threshold of the temple — and God is calling His people to wade in the water.

This isn't just a poetic metaphor. It’s a prophetic summons. A divine invitation.

Ezekiel saw it. The waters started shallow — ankle-deep, then knee-deep, then waist-deep — and then waters too deep to cross. A river you can only swim in (Ezekiel 47:3-5). That’s progression. That’s movement. That’s maturity.

And the Spirit of the Lord is saying in this hour:

“Come out of the shallows. Step beyond safety. I am releasing the river.”

🔍 The River Is Rising

Just like the old spiritual sang, “Wade in the water. God’s gonna trouble the water.” — this river isn't for sightseeing. It's for transformation.

In Ezekiel’s vision, the river flowed from the sanctuary — from the presence of God — and wherever the river went, there was healing, restoration, and life.

“...And everything will live where the river goes.”
Ezekiel 47:9

This is not a trickle. This is not a theology. This is a movement of the Spirit.

📜 A Prophetic Blueprint: Four Depths of Devotion

1. Ankle-Deep — The Casual Christian
This is the entry point. You've dipped your toes. You’re saved, but not surrendered. The Spirit is moving, but you’re standing still.

2. Knee-Deep — The Intercessor’s Beginning
You’ve begun to bend your knees. Prayer has become more than obligation. You feel the current — but still in control.

3. Waist-Deep — The Warrior’s Testing
Here the water resists you. The river starts pushing. Your will wrestles with His. Are you ready to yield?

4. Over Your Head — The Place of Complete Surrender
This is not swimming. This is floating by faith. This is when the current of God’s Spirit takes over. You don’t go where you want to go — the river leads you.

“When you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.”
John 21:18

That’s prophetic maturity.

🌊 When God Troubles the Water

Remember the pool of Bethesda? The water was troubled by the angel, and whoever stepped in first was healed (John 5:4).
The troubling of the water isn’t chaos — it’s change. It’s when heaven interrupts the normal.

Some of you are waiting for calm before you move — but God is saying:

“I’m in the turbulence. I’m in the shaking. I’m in the flood.”

The river is rising in this generation — not to drown you, but to carry you.

🕊️ A Word for the Church

In this season, God is moving His church:

  • From performance to presence

  • From programs to power

  • From buildings to the Body

  • From the pulpit to the river

You’ve preached about revival — but have you waded into it?

You’ve sung about fire — but have you been consumed?

You’ve declared the outpouring — but will you let it carry you where your feet can’t touch the bottom?

“Deep calls to deep at the noise of Your waterfalls...”
Psalm 42:7

🙏 A Prophetic Call: Step In

I hear the Spirit say:

“The threshold is open. The river is flowing. Step in. I’m calling you to deeper waters. Stop playing it safe. Stop managing Me. Let Me move. Let Me carry you. Let Me flood the dry places. For everywhere the river flows — there will be life.”

So I declare over you:

  • Dry bones — LIVE

  • Shallow places — DEEPEN

  • Stagnant pools — BE STIRRED

  • Frozen faith — THAW

Wade in the water, beloved. The river is rising — and the Spirit is calling.
